The base container is only the starting cost
A conversion begins with a genuine 20-foot or 40-foot ISO freight container. New, one-trip and used containers have different purchase prices and repair requirements. Standard and high-cube units also provide different internal heights after insulation and lining.
The quotation should identify the container size, type and agreed condition. Cosmetic appearance, floor condition, corrosion repairs and any required identification or inspection must not be left to assumption.
Openings require cutting and reinforcement
Doors, windows, serving hatches and full-height glazing remove parts of the corrugated steel wall. The size and position of each opening determine the trimming frame and local reinforcement required to transfer loads around it.
Large openings and retained cargo-handling requirements need early engineering review. A converted unit should not automatically be assumed to retain its original CSC approval, stacking capacity or cargo certification.

Insulation and fit-out define the usable space
Insulation, vapour control, internal lining and service cavities reduce the already narrow internal width of a shipping container. The correct build-up depends on climate, condensation risk, room use and required performance.
Electrical work, lighting, HVAC, plumbing, sanitary fixtures, counters, furniture, equipment interfaces and finishes should be listed individually. A simple storage conversion and a complete accommodation or café conversion are not comparable prices.
Include delivery and site connections
Added cladding, canopies, plant and projections may change the completed transport dimensions and weight. Confirm the route, lifting method, unloading position, foundations or supports and access before dispatch.
External electricity, water, drainage, permits and local commissioning normally sit outside the conversion unless included explicitly. A responsibility matrix makes the delivered project cost visible.

Provide the intended use, preferred 20-foot or 40-foot base, destination, layout, openings, insulation requirement, equipment list, finish references and target delivery date. State whether the unit will move again after installation.
With these inputs, the offer can separate the base container, structural conversion, envelope, fit-out, factory testing, transport and site responsibilities.
